Since 1952, the world’s most prestigious writing university has served the country’s best high school journalists at the University of Iowa's Summer Journalism Workshops. The workshops bring high-quality training to high school journalists from across the nation, providing them with a fun and rigorous curriculum taught on the UI campus. The work encourages and supports youth interest in the field of journalism, an important cornerstone of the democratic process. We provide high school students opportunities to improve their skills and explore their love and interest in journalism by working with professionals and passionate educators who strive to help students develop critical thinking skills, understand current events, and become involved in their communities.
Our goal is to keep costs low for our campers, however, there are still students who experience financial stress that prevents them from attending the workshops. We have various sponsorship options for those interested in supporting young journalists.
Each sponsorship can be customizable to fit the individual or organization. We appreciate all sponsorships that allow the workshops to remain low cost for students.
Every sponsor is mentioned on our website with a link to their organization's webpage. Sponsors are also noted in email communications to campers and their parents. We acknowledge all of our sponsors during our opening camp meeting and at the Closing Celebration Ceremony, attended by both campers and their parents.

Sponsorship Opportunities
$75 - Field Trip Sponsor
This sponsorship will cover the cost to send campers on field trips during the workshops. Classes have the opportunity to get hands-on experience through different field trips according to their topic. Some field trips have included visiting KCRG, The Gazette, Linn County Courthouse proceedings, Muscatine County Fair, and more!
$500 - Food Sponsor
This sponsorship is available through financial and in-kind donations. Sponsors will be acknowledged through signage at the meal or snack times during the workshop, and have access to students/parents during the Closing Ceremony on the last day of the workshops.
$785 - Camper Sponsor
This sponsorship gift will cover the full cost of a camper attending the workshops including housing, meals, fields trips, and more.
$2,000+ Major Sponsor
In addition to acknowledgement on our website, in camper/parent communications, and during our opening and closing ceremonies, major sponsors will receive acknowledgment on our social media channels and have their logo included on a main ISJW memento given to all ISJW campers. We will also highlight major sponsors on program promotional materials.
