Financial Aid

Financial aid is available to support student participation in the Iowa Summer Journalism Workshop. The following criteria will be considered:

· Economic need

· Educational disadvantage (at least 30% of enrolled students in their high school are eligible for free or reduced-price lunches)

· First-generation college student (no parent obtained a bachelor’s degree)

· Life hardship/overcoming adverse circumstances

· Living in rural or urban location

· Association with a Native American tribe

Applicants will be notified when the financial aid is awarded, and no later than May 1, 2024.

Financial Aid funding is made possible by generous sponsorship from the Alan and Beverly Easton Fund in Journalism and Mass Communication, the Iowa Newspaper Association, The Gazette, Van Meter, and Hills Bank.

Scholarship for Linn County Iowa Residents

Several scholarships are granted on a first-come, first served basis to students living in Linn County, Iowa, thanks to sponsorship by the Marshall Journalism Incentive Fund.

The funding for this scholarship is made possible by a generous donation in honor of Harry L., Verne, and Clare R. Marshall, all former editors and partial owners of the Gazette.
