Digital Sports Storytelling offers high school students a dynamic introduction to the fast-paced world of sports media. In this hands-on workshop, participants will step into the role of a digital content team covering a major college athletics announcement. Through collaborative exercises, they’ll learn to craft compelling content across multiple formats (social media, written articles, and podcasts) while building valuable real-world skills.

Adam Kempenaar is a professor in the University of Iowa School of Journalism and Mass Communication (SJMC). He teaches a variety of classes, including Sports Social Media Marketing and Audio Production. Previously, Adam was the Vice President of Marketing and Content for the Chicago Blackhawks, where he helped launch and evolve the club’s digital platforms. Adam is a pioneer in sports and film podcasting and has won numerous awards for his digital content work
